Walter

—With Barbara Jefford—

Casting me as Walter who, in the 1980s, was considered “mentally handicapped” wouldn’t, I suspect, be thought appropriate today. But it was the part of a lifetime, written by David Cook who had understudied me onstage in A Lily in Little India and directed by Stephen Frears, who I first met at Cambridge Unversity.
